Motivation Statement

I am 58. I have never run a half marathon. My longest run so for is 10km. I have never called myself a runner. I am a father and a grandfather. Education is no longer an idea to me. It is personal. I have volunteered in special needs education and served in parent-teacher leadership roles. I have seen how the right support can change a child’s future. This October, I will run 42.195 km at the Kuala Lumpur Standard Chartered Marathon. I am raising RM1 for every metre in support of Teach For Malaysia. That’s RM42,195 going to an amazing organization full of passionate people who are making things better for Malaysia one classroom at a time. I’m not doing this for a medal. But for classrooms. At 58, I am choosing to do something hard — for children who deserve a fair start.
